TIPPI, Nov 8: Popular rock band The Royal Flush performed a concert here in West Kameng district on Wednesday, in collaboration with the state tobacco control cell (STCC), with the aim of creating awareness on the ill effects of tobacco.
The concert saw the attendance of over 600 people, along with a team led by the STCC’s State Programme Officer Dr Biman Natung, and members of the district tobacco control programme.
Besides the rock show, children from St Xaviers’s School, Bhalukpong, Government Middle School, Koilabhatti, and Melyapung Public School, Tippi, presented skits and songs on tobacco.
Bhalukpong CHC’s Senior Medical Officer Dr Tage Neha spoke about the objective of conducting the rock show-cum-awareness campaign on tobacco, and urged the public to “quit tobacco and choose life.”
STCC consultant Karpa Marde spoke on the ill effects of smoking and passive smoking.
