Outdated bridge a threat to commuters

ITANAGAR, Nov 17: The All Kamle District Students’ Union has drawn the chief minister’s attention to the dilapidated condition of the Bailey bridge over the Kamla river in Tamen in Kamle district.
In a representation to the CM, the union said the bridge has long outlived its use-by date and now poses grave danger to commuters. It expressed resentment that, despite its having submitted several representations to the authorities concerned, the bridge has never been repaired or maintained.
The Tamen Bailey bridge is the lifeline to Kamle district headquarters Raga and the entire Upper Subansiri district. Claiming that several cracks have developed in the bridge, the union urged the CM to initiate steps to have the bridge repaired before a tragedy occurs on it.
