Indian Army organizes archery championship at Daporijo

DAPORIJO, Nov 21: The 17th Punjab Regiment of Indian Army at Borarupok in collaboration with Upper Subansiri administration conducted an archery competition for the youths between the ages of 15 to 25 years at GHSS here on Wednesday.
The target of the event was first set 18 meters away.
Later on, the difficulty level was raised by increasing the distance of the target in order to identify the best talents.
The first, second and third positions were won by Tate Dobin, Tapa Nilling and Vinod Markia respectively. Cash prizes were awarded to the three winners, along with certificates.
Forty archers from different villages of Daporijo participated in the event and all of them were provided certificates of participation.
The motive of organizing the event was to inculcate the spirit of sportsmanship among the youths and bring forward the local youths in national forefront in sports activities.
The event was attended by commanding officer Colonel Sunil Kumar, Deputy Commissioner (in-charge) N Chatung, SP Keni Bagra and Circle Officer Yamo Tamut. DIPRO
