22 traders booked for violating LM Act

NAHARLAGUN, Nov 26: The mobile inspection team of the legal metrology department on Monday conducted surprise inspection of trading units located in and around D Sector and G Extension here, and detected various forms of irregularities at 22 trading premises.
The traders have been booked for violation of the provisions of the Legal Metrology (LM) Act, 2009.
Fourteen cases were related to packaged commodities, wherein products were found being sold without mandatory information or with erased MRP. The remaining cases involved use of unverified weights and measures and failure to produce verification certificates.
The violators have been instructed to follow the rules strictly, so that consumers do not sustain losses.
The inspection team comprised Deputy Controller (HQ) Daro Marbom, Deputy Controller (WZ) TN Tara, Inspector (HQ) G Singpho, Papum Pare LM Inspector Debia Tana, and other officials.
