ROING, Nov 26: A 15-day workshop on ‘production-oriented theatre’, based on the ideologies of Mahatma Gandhi, in commemoration of his 150th birth anniversary, began at the multipurpose hall here in Lower Dibang Valley district on Monday.
The workshop is being organized by Dimapur (Nagaland)-based North East Zone Culture Centre, in collaboration with the state’s art & culture department.
Theatre directors Bendang Walling and Kilang Temsu started training more than 20 participants, right after the inaugural ceremony.
Attending the opening ceremony, DACO M Tayeng advised the participants to take full advantage of the workshop and learn from the resource persons.
Walling spoke on the aims and objectives of the programme, and on the benefits of attending the workshop.
“This programme is not just for acting, dancing and drama but also to share creative ideas, knowledge of your society and cultures and traditions. Participants can also improve their personality, communication skills, acting skills, and learn new ideas and thoughts,” he said.
Walling informed that the programme began in 2016, and is being held all across the northeastern states.
Local movie producer and director, Darbom Tayeng, will assist the resource persons during the workshop.
The participants will receive honorarium for each day of the workshop.
