ROING, Nov 27: A two-day training programme on ‘capacity building of rural farmers in fish farming’ commenced here in Lower Dibang Valley district on Tuesday.
The training is being organized by the NHPC’s Dibang multipurpose project (DMP) as part of its CSR activities. Seventy-one fish farmers are attending the training, which is being conducted in association with the fisheries department.
The inaugural session was attended by DMP deputy general managers Avinash Kumar and Vikram Ravuru, assistant manager Raushan Kumar, assistant director SK Jawal, District Fisheries Development Officer Nabam Tania, and senior personnel of the NHPC and the fisheries department.
Kumar highlighted the nutritional qualities of fish and the importance of fish farming for employment generation, while Tania presented an outline of the programme.
The first day’s training featured discussions on composite fish farming, integrated fish farming, paddy-cum-fish farming, fish diseases, etc.
