GUWAHATI, Nov 29: A memorandum of understanding(MoU) was signed between State Horticulture Research and Development Institute (SHRDI) and the Indian Council of Agriculture Research (ICAR) authorities at Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute (ATARI), ICAR hereon Tuesday as per which a KrishiVigyan Kendra will be established at Dibang Valley district soon.
SHRDI Head,Egam Basar had signed the MoU on behalf of the state government.
Earlier, the SHRDI had also signed MoU for establishment of a KVK for KurungKumey district.
Later, during a meeting, the SHRDI authorities assured the ICAR authorities that it will strive to develop these KVKs
not only the centre of technology dissemination but also agro-eco tourism destination especially, the KVK Anini, taking the advantage of beautiful landscape and rich repository of orchids and rare medicinal plants in with the models followed in South East Asian countries.
Other problems related to functioning of KVKs in the state were also discussed and emphasis was given on resource pooling from all sources so that KVKs do not face fund and manpower constraints.
