There is also scope for developing butterfly parks and bird bioreserves in the state, Mein said. He suggested that scientists plant fruit bearing trees for the birds to turn the entire area into a bio-reserve along with the research centre.
The proposed centre for bioresource and sustainable development at Kimin is being developed under the Department of Science & Technology, Government of India, informed Mangha.
The bioresource centre, spreading across seven acres, would be the second in the entire North East Region and it will become a main centre of research works in the state.
This will also facilitate the state government departments as well as the students of NERIST and RGU in their research work, he added.
He informed that eight scientists are working in the centre and doing their research work.
They were accompanied by Kimin SDO Likha Teji and others.
