PASIGHAT, Dec 1: Three months skill development training on ‘model fruit nursery’ was inaugurated by College of Horticulture and Forestry, CAU, Pasighat Dean, Dr BN Hazarika and College of Horticulture and Forestry, CAU, Jhasi, Uttar Pradesh Dean, Dr AK Pandey, here in East Sinag district on 1st December.
The training programme is sponsored by the Power Finance Corporation of India and implemented by the department of Fruit Science, College of Horticulture and Forestry, CAU, Pasighat under the aegis of Directorate of Extension Education, CAU, Imphal.
Thirty unemployed rural youth and school drop-outs from 25 different villages of East Siang, West Siang, Upper Siang and Siang districts are participating in the training programme.
Course Director Dr L Wangchu discussed on the objectives and rationales for conducting such a training programme.
Dr Hazarika and Dr Pandey shared their knowledge and experience, and also stressed upon imparting such skill development programmes by the college to lift the socio-economic condition of the rural youth.
The training on model fruit nursery is expected to develop entrepreneurship in the field of nursery business in Arunachal Pradesh.
Dr Barun Singh is the course co-ordinator of the training programme.
