Flying squad conducts tobacco surveillance drive in Tawang

TAWANG, Dec 4: The Tawang District Tobacco Control Cell (DTCC) conducted its first ever flying squad/surveillance drive in old market, Nehru market, New market and other areas of frequent public visit within Tawang township on Tuesday.
The flying squad team lead by Dr. Dechin Droka, Circle Officer cum Magistrate and accompanied by ASI Genden Chotta, police personnel and DTCC members found no one violating the sections 4 and 6(a,b) of COTPA act 2003 during its four hours drive.
The team also bring in awareness to the shopkeepers and asked them not to violate the rules. ‘Any one found violating the law shall have to face the consequences, the team said.
Dr.Sangey Thinlay, DPO(NTCP) National tobacco control programme Tawang, said that his team of DTCC is committed to declare ‘Tawang as tobacco free district very soon”. The declaration of tobacco free district will create a healthy and clean environment and this will further boost the tourism flow into our district, he said.
