SIGIN-I, Dec 11: The reconstructed panchayat hall here in Upper Subansiri district was inaugurated by DC Danish Ashraf on Tuesday.
The building had been severely damaged in the New Market inferno that had occurred in August last year. Apart from the funds made available to the ASMs, voluntary contributions from various sources helped in reconstructing the hall.
The ex-panchayati raj members presented a memorandum to the DC, requesting him to allot land to Sigin-I panchayat and to provide fund for a boundary wall to protect the land from encroachment.
The DC directed the land management department to observe the codal formalities and allot land to Sigin-I panchayat within a week. He also announced the construction of a community hall, and fund for a boundary wall from the resources at his disposal. (DIPRO)
