LAUTUL, Dec 11: Thirty-one farmers benefitted from a ‘training programme-cum-method demonstration’ on oyster mushroom cultivation conducted by the Anjaw KVK at Lautul village on Monday.
Horticulture scientist Rebecca Eko highlighted the importance of cultivating mushroom. She said the Mishmi people still follow their age-old practice of collecting mushrooms from the forests, “which is seasonal, and, if not properly identified, can be dangerous.”
Eka made a presentation on different steps of oyster mushroom cultivation, its post-harvest management techniques, and insect pest management.
Later the participants were acquainted with the cultivation techniques through a method demonstration, which was followed by distribution of mushroom spawn.
