School, community hall inaugurated

CHANGLANG, Dec 11: Changlang North MLA Tesam Pongte on Tuesday inaugurated the primary school in Kanglah village and a community hall in Watlom village in Changlang district.
The MLA assured the people that the state government would strive to bring developmental schemes, prioritizing vital departments like health and education.
He advised the people to undertake self-employment avenues in horticulture and agriculture, especially cardamom and other cash crop cultivation, “as the region holds high potential and vast scope for such activities.”
Pongte urged the district’s people to give up opium cultivation and switch to profit-yielding cultivation activities “which would help them achieve self-sufficiency to some extent.”
Deputy Commissioner RK Sharma advised the people to avail of the government sponsored schemes. Noting the issue of teachers’ absenteeism, especially from village schools, he said stringent action would be initiated against such erring teachers.
