RAGA, Dec 15: A massive ‘Swachh Bharat’ campaign was organized across the length and breadth of Kamle district to mark the celebration of its first foundation day on Saturday.
Declaring the campaign open in the presence of a huge gathering here in the morning, MLA Tamar Murtem said, “A disease-free and healthy society can propel the development and economic activities of an area,” and urged the people to pledge to make Kamle one of the cleanest districts of the state.
He also advised the youths to denounce tobacco and join hands in making Kamle a tobacco-free district.
Deputy Commissioner Moki Loyi commended the Raga Area Employees’ Welfare Association (RAEWA) for taking the initiative in organizing the campaign in collaboration with the administration.
RAEWA president Taw Papu urged everyone to keep their homes and surroundings clean, and RAEWA general secretary Dr Kapu Sopin urged the people of Kamle to “continue the cleanliness process throughout the district.”
Sopin also asked the shopkeepers to place dustbins near their shops to prevent littering.
The people, including student leaders and NGO members, urged the DUDA to keep the garbage truck assigned for Kamle in Raga to ensure smooth collection and disposal of garbage.
The campaign witnessed massive participation of members of the District Health Society, student unions, NGOs, committees and others.
Earlier, on Friday, the RAEWA conducted a cleanliness awareness campaign from Pamluk to Godak. (DIPRO)
