DAMBUK, Dec 19: The 5th edition of the Late Jomin Tayeng Academic Merit Award 2018 for the AISSE/AISSCE toppers of Dambuk assembly constituency was held at the government higher secondary school (GHSS) here in Lower Dibang Valley district on Wednesday.
Fifteen students who topped in the CBSE examinations in their respective schools during the academic year of 2017-’18 in science, arts and commerce (for class 12) and toppers of class 10 were each given laptops.
Speaking on the occasion on behalf of the Tayeng family, APSTS General Manager Abu Tayeng said the award is given to the AISSE/AISSCE toppers of Dambuk every year to encourage the students to study hard and excel in their academic careers.
He informed that the family is also willing to facilitate and sponsor the UPSC qualifiers from the constituency.
Family members of late Tayeng, including Dambuk MLA Gum Tayeng (wife), Makpel Tayeng (older brother) and other relatives were also present on the occasion.
Senior officers and leaders also spoke, and exhorted the students to concentrate on their studies and work hard to achieve success in life.
GHSS Principal Abu Tayeng highlighted the life of late Jomin Tayeng.
The GM later donated a soundless DG set to the GHSS for smooth running of the smart classes in the school.
