ITANAGAR, Dec 20: The All Arunachal Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test Qualifiers’ Association (AAPTETQA) has urged the education secretary to address the matter of deduction of the salaries of in-service (ISSE) contractual teachers who had not participated in the three-day dharna staged by the AASSATA earlier this year.
In a representation to the secretary, the AAPTETQA on Thursday said the salaries of the teachers who had not participated in the dharna had been deducted by the district authorities “despite the secretary education’s assurance against deduction of salaries.”
“We had submitted a representation to your good office regarding the issue and you had assured us that salary of those in service (ISSE) contractual teachers who did not participate in the three-day illegal dharna called by the CB-AASSATA will not be deducted. But unfortunately your holistic approach to this matter was not adhered by the district authorities of concerned DDSEs which is very unfortunate,” it said.
The association said the move to deduct the salaries of over 2,650 ISSE contractual teachers who did not participate in the dharna “will set a wrong precedent and will be detrimental to the state’s educational policy,” and requested the secretary to address the issue at the earliest.
