ITANAGAR, Dec 21: District nodal officers underwent training on Systematic Voter’s Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) at the chief electoral office (CEO) here on Friday.
Addressing the participants, CEO Kaling Tayeng exhorted the trainees to step up the activities as envisaged by the Election Commission of India (ECI) under SVEEP.
“EVM-VVPAT awareness activities should invariably be carried out at all polling stations of the districts so that every voter becomes aware of the functioning of EVM, and more so of the Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT), which is new to most of us,” he said.
State nodal officer (SVEEP) Lod Takkar presented an overview titled ‘SVEEP and accessible election for general election 2019.’
Highlighting the guidelines and instructions of the ECI, he dwelled on the persisting challenges and the strategies to be adopted for future courses of action under SVEEP.
Training was also imparted on establishment of electoral literacy clubs at schools and colleges, and at the community level.
All the district nodal officers made PowerPoint presentations on their respective district’s SVEEP plan.
Deputy Chief Electoral Officer Liken Koyu was also present.
