RUKSIN, Dec 23: The villagers of Mikong in East Siang district on Saturday contributed relief to the families affected by the fire accident that had occurred in Mangnang village on 13 December.
The villagers, led by their gaon burahs, contributed Rs 29,000 in cash along with two quintals of rice as immediate relief to the affected people.
The donors appealed to all to come forward and donate voluntarily to the affected people.
Seven houses, along with a shop, a granary and a rice mill were gutted in the fire in Mangnang village, which falls under Sille/Oyan circle.
Mikong upper primary school’s (UPS) management committee chairman Gemin Modi, Headmaster Tajing Messar, senior teacher Tabong Tabo and other teachers and students of the school also donated Rs 7,150 to one Kalong Ering, father of a class 6 girl student of Mikong UPS and one of the victims of the fire incident.
