ITANAGAR, Dec 24: The Likabali Intellectual Forum (LIF) has demanded “reshuffling” of the ongoing schemes under the State Infrastructure Development Fund (SIDF) in Lower Siang HQ Likabali, alleging mismanagement of the SIDF by Likabali MLA Kardo Nyigyor and the rural works department (RWD).
Addressing reporters at the press club here on Monday, LIF president Nyakar Taipodia claimed that no work under the SIDF was being carried out in the constituency, and that the LIF has already written to the chief secretary regarding it.
Taipodia claimed that during the tenure of late Jomde Kena as Likabali MLA, Rs 11 crore had been sanctioned under the SIDF for various developmental activities in the constituency, “but the department has passed bills to concerned contractors with little to no work on ground.”
He claimed that Rs 3 crore each had been allotted for improving the stretches
of the road from Gensi to Tatamori, and from Tatamori to Litemori villages.
“The department has already passed Rs 18.50 lakhs to the contractors for both the stretches,” claimed Taipodia, adding that the RWD did not follow the rules and norms of the NIT “under the influence of the incumbent MLA, and did not allow for other firms to participate in the tendering process.”
Citing the case of the construction of the teachers’ barrack at the government middle school in Sibe, and of the work to improve and strengthen the road from Gensi to Tatamori and Tatamori to Litemori, he claimed that there has been little to no work on the projects “but the bills for them were illegally passed recently.”
“We have enough proof and evidence to support the allegation against the department and the local MLA,” Taipodia said, but did not provide reporters with any evidence during the press conference.
The LIF called on the elected representatives and government departments “not to draw money without doing any work.”
This daily tried to contact the Likabali MLA but could not reach him over the phone.
