NAMSAI, Jan 10: A skill development training programme on ‘artificial insemination’ and ‘quality seed grower’ began at the Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) here on Thursday.
Addressing the inaugural programme, Arunachal University of Studies (AUS) pro-vice chancellor Vishwalochan urged the trainees to use the opportunity to sharpen their talents and harness the potential of the district’s agricultural and natural resources.
AUS agriculture faculty and dean, Prof VS Devadas, spoke on the present status and opportunities in the agriculture and livestock sectors in the area. He said using quality seeds and breeds would ensure increase in production by upto 30 percent.
Namsai KVK Head Dr Manish Kanwat informed that “the Namsai KVK is the first and only centre in Arunachal Pradesh to be recognized and certified for imparting skill training to rural youths.”
Among others, Fisheries Assistant Director SK Jawal and AUS deputy registrar Himanshu Panchal addressed the participants.
The courses have 20 trainees each from different villages of Namsai district.
