RGU scholars to stage protest

RONO HILLS, Jan 15: The Rajiv Gandhi University Research Scholars’ Forum (RGURSF) has said it will stage a protest at the university’s mini-auditorium here on Wednesday to express solidarity with the strike called by the All India Research Scholars’ Association (AIRSA).
The AIRSA has announced the protest after its demands went unfulfilled, despite numerous meetings and assurances, by the ministers and officials concerned, the RGURSF informed in a release on Tuesday.
The association’s demands are, inter alia, hike in the current research fellowships; inclusion of dearness allowance in all research fellowships; bringing all the research fellowships at par; and timely disbursal of all research fellowships.
The AIRSA said it will stage an indefinite protest, “starting from the human resource development ministry in New Delhi on 16 January.”
