PASIGHAT, Jan 18: A newborn girl’s corpse was found at Boying village near here in East Siang district on Thursday.
Reportedly, passersby spotted a stray dog attempting to consume the body of the dead infant.
The locals, who conducted an inquiry on their own into the shocking incident, said the baby might have been abandoned by someone.
On receiving information, police arrived at the spot, and sent the body to the hospital for postmortem.
On being enquired, the police did not give details about the incident but said the case is being investigated.
