BJP ‘s silence on CAB

Dear Editor,
It is disheartening and shameful to see that our state BJP leaders are maintaining stoic silence over the Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) 2016 while BJP leaders and ally of BJP of other Northeastern states are vociferously raising voice against the bill. The aspiration and sentiment of the state has been strangulated and scuttled by CM Pema Khandu and Mos Kiren Rijiju by welcoming the bill knowing that, if the bill gets legislated in the Rajya Sabha, it will open the floodgate for illegal immigrants and have serious repercussion on the demography of the state.
Recently AGP in Assam withdrew its support, protesting against the passing of CAB in the Lok Sabha, Congrad Sangma, CM of Meghalaya has also made his stand clear and is leading on the forefront to convince the centre that this bill is not acceptable at any cost. Mizoram BJP chief Jhon V. Hluna has also threatened to dissolve the Party’s state unit if the national leadership goes ahead with the passage of the contentious CAB. Regrettably we our state leaders are showing laxity on this pernicious issue.
To my astonishments our so called pressure groups who are well acknowledged for their prowess to make issues out of nothing is a mute spectator in such a crucial issue. Our state leaders need to get their priority right by setting aside their personal interest of getting party ticket and standup to safeguard the interest, safety & security of the state.
Last but not least I request our public, youth, students, bureaucrats and leaders to stand together in opposing Citizenship Amendment Bill 2016 in one voice and work in tandem to stop it any cost.
Sincerely,
T. Kaming Paji
