ITANAGAR, Feb 9: A state level programme to felicitate weavers, disburse MUDRA loans, issue Pehchan cards and yarn passbooks, register for NIOS course, etc, was organized here in Papum Pare district on Saturday.
This was followed by a workshop with resource persons from various departments disseminating information on the schemes and benefits provided by the central government.
Earlier, a 100-day campaign for strengthening the echo system for the MSME sector was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi 2 November, 2018, and Papum Pare district has been identified as a focus district in the handloom sector in Arunachal.
During the campaign, handloom weavers were briefed on the main features of the Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana, which provides accident insurance cover to handloom weavers for death or disability. The risk cover is Rs 2 lakhs for accidental death and permanent total disability, and Rs 1 lakh for permanent partial disability. So far 478 weavers have been enrolled under the schemes. (DIPRO)
