PANSUMTHONG, Feb 10: State BJP president Tapir Gao lauded the role of the churches in moulding the society, and commended the work undertaken by the church leaders in maintaining peace and tranquility in the state.
Gao said this while attending the programme to dedicate the prayer centre of the Nokte Baptist Asathem Roapkhhoan (NBAR) in Pansumthong village in Tirap district.
He urged the people to have tolerance, saying it would help in unification of communities and the development of the state. He also urged the people to shoulder the responsibility for the development of the state and the country.
Former state Rubber Board chairman Likha Maj said the prayer centre should be utilized for the betterment of the community and for spiritual and devotional purposes and reformation.
He assured to pay all the dues accruing to the construction of the prayer centre.
Rev Asenba Imsong, NBAR president Poro Bangsia and secretary Tarun Thinok also addressed the gathering.
