LAZU, Feb 12: The Ollo community of Lazu circle in Tirap district celebrated Worang Juku festival with great zeal and gaiety on Monday.
APEDA Chairman Wanglam Sawin, who attended the festivity, conveyed good wishes to the community on behalf of Deputy CM Chowna Mein and state BJP president Tapir Gao, both of whom could not make it to the festival after the helicopter they were supposed to take to Lazu developed a technical snag.
Sawin urged the Ollos to protect their mother tongue, saying “language is the identity of the any tribe or group.”
The BJP’s secretary in charge of Tirap, Tarh Tarak, urged the Ollos to preserve their rich culture and traditional practices.
Celebration committee president Thokwang Ngongpadiong read out the mythology of the festival. (DIPRO)
