ITANAGAR, Feb 13: Superintending Engineer (Power) Bengia Bojok passed away at the age of 54 years on Wednesday morning at his Jullang residence near here in Papum Pare district.
He left behind his wife Bengia Cecilia, daughters Dr Bengia Mepong and Dr Bengia Meling, and son Bengia Lingpong.
Born to late Bengia Takar and late Bengia Yapik at Mange village under Koloriang Sub-Division of present Kurung Kumey district in 1965, Bojok joined the Department of Power as assistant engineer in 1988.
He was promoted to the posts of executive engineer in 2003 and then superintending engineer in 2018.
He did his degree in electrical engineering from the National Institute of Technology, Muzaffarpur, Bihar in 1987, thus becoming the first graduate engineer from undivided Kurung Kumey district, and second among the Nyishis in electrical engineering.
The Nyishi Elite Society (NES) and Bengia Welfare Society (BWS) have expressed profound grief and sorrow at the sudden and untimely demise of Bojok.
“He was a straight forward man with clean heart, and lived a simple life,” said NES in a condolence message to Cecilia, wife of late Bojok, The NES prayed to the almighty to give enough courage and strength to the bereaved family to withstand the tragedy, and also prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul.
“We are deeply saddened by the passing away of Bojok. He was known for his uprightness in personal traits, high degree of morality, integrity and antecedents,” said the BWS in a condolence message.
“He was loved and revered by his colleagues and juniors, and admired by all, who came across him even for once,” the BWS said in a condolence message.
“In his death, the state and the Nyishi community in particular have lost a senior citizen and technocrat, which will be difficult to fill in the immediate future,” the message said, and prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul.
The society also conveyed heartfelt condolence to the bereaved family to bear the irreparable loss.
