Review meeting on NVBDCP held

SWAMY CAMP, Feb 22: The district level review meeting of the National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme (NVBDCP) was held at the district hospital here in Anjaw district on 19 February.
During the meeting, which was attended by the Hayuliang CO along with doctors, health workers, ANMs, field workers and others, NVBDCP District Programme Officer Dr S Tayang made a PowerPoint presentation on the district’s status in terms of eliminating malaria.
Dr Tayang informed that “the annual blood examination rate (ABER 18%), a performance indicator, has considerably increased in the year 2018 with zero malaria case this year.”
He, however, advised the field workers not to be complacent “as there are far greater challenges ahead to sustain and maintain zero transmission of malaria parasite.”
The standard operating procedure in case of any malaria positive detection was discussed during the meeting, and feedbacks were taken to ensure better coordinated efforts and planning.
District vector borne disease consultant Bharoti Dai spoke on the reporting status and logistic requirements, and irregularities in timelines and completeness of reporting were addressed during the meeting.
The accountant informed about the errors in names and account numbers provided by the ASHAs, saying it hinders speedy and direct benefit transfers of the honorariums of the ASHAs.
