ROING, Feb 25: Thousands of people from all walks of life participated in a protest rally here in Lower Dibang Valley district on Monday, opposing granting of PRCs to non-APSTs and condemning the killing of young protesters in the capital complex.
The rally was organized by the All Idu Mishmi Students’ Union, which imposed a 12-hour bandh here simultaneously. There was no movement of vehicles, and all schools, offices and shops remained shut.
The protestors shouted slogans against the chief minister and the deputy CM, and demanded justice for the families of those who died in police firing in the capital.
The protestors held placards bearing messages against granting of PRCs and for fighting for the rights of the indigenous people.
Posters of the CM and DCM were burnt during the protest. However, no untoward happening or act of violence occurred during the rally.
