ROING, Mar 13: A sensitization and awareness programme on Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act 2005 & Sexual Harassment of Women at Work Place (Prevention, Prohibition & Redressal) Act, 2013 was jointly organised by district child protection unit of Roing and Lower Dibang Valley district under the aegis of department of women and child development, ICDS Cell, Roing at DCPU Hall here on Wednesday.
The programme chaired by Enjalu Menda Women Empowerment Forum (EWEF), Roing president, Lomi Linggi, was attended by people from all walks of life along with members of various SHGs, representatives of police department, members from NGOs.
Addressing the gathering, EMWEF, president, Lomi Linggi said that every woman has the right to live and ask for justice if they are facing domestic violence and sexual abuse. She also assured all possible help from the EMWEF to women folk in addressing the such issues faced by them.
Speaking on the occasion as resource person, advocate Rukmini Linggi explained about Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act 2005 and urged all women in need of support to come forward and avail the services through protection officer, police officer, service providers and lawyers of district legal service authority while advocate Bahe Mikrow spoke about sexual harassment of women at workplace.
