NAHARLAGUN, Mar 20: The state unit of the Indian Dental Association (IDA) on Wednesday organized a ‘dental awareness and oral health check-up camp’ at the children’s home and the Swadhar Greh of the Oju Welfare Association (OWA) here on the occasion of the World Oral Health Day (WOHD).
The programme included free dental check-up and screening, besides demonstrations on oral hygiene and brushing by professionals. It also featured a ‘perfect smile’ contest.
State IDA secretary Dr Tage Tamo spoke about the purpose of observing WOHD on 20 March, and said the camp was organized to spread awareness about oral health among “the public, the government and health associates.”
The official theme of the 2019 WOHD campaign is ‘Say Ahh: Act on mouth health’.
The IDA team included Drs Rajshree Sumnyan, Nyakde Rigia, Opok Pertin, Nima Tsering, Nabam Jiri, Abom Liggu and Seko Tajo.
Around 90 children, inmates and OWA staffers underwent oral check-up and screening. Free toothpaste and toothbrushes were also distributed among them.
