Rally held to create awareness on World Autism Day

ITANAGAR, Apr 3: Himalayan University’s special education department organised a rally from the institute’s campus in Chimpu to the secretariat here, via Gohpur Tinali and Ganga Market, to mark World Autism Day on Tuesday.
The participating students distributed pamphlets related to autism and provided information to the people about the causes, types, characteristics and prevention of autism among children.
The university’s special education HoD, Ibraheem Khan, said World Autism Day is celebrated globally on 2 April every year after being adopted by the United Nations to enrich the lives of people on the autism spectrum.
“According to the World Health Organization, one out of every 160 children is living with autism. However, there is a lack of awareness about this disorder,” he said.
