Efforts on to flush out rainwater from Pasighat town

PASIGHAT, May 29: In an effort to clear the blocked drains in Pasighat market and other parts of the town in East Siang district, the district administration has cleared drains by using excavator during the last two days.
The local residents said, the natural drains were filled up with mud and waste debris blocking the normal water flow in the drains. They have demanded the urban body for regular cleansing of the drains for maintaining healthy environment in the town.
Meanwhile, East Siang Deputy Commissioner Dr Kinny Singh, who is monitoring the drain cleaning activities, has appealed to the local residents and vendors not to throw the garbage into the drains saying that the Municipal body has installed dustbins for collection of garbage and other plastic wastes.
Pasighat town and adjoining areas had witnessed heavy rainfall on Sunday which created trouble to the urban dwellers.
