DEOMALI, Jul 1: PHED Minister Wangki Lowang on Monday flagged off the relaunched APSTS bus service from here to Soha, in Tirap district.
The bus service will benefit 10 villages in Soha circle.
Lowang said the Deomali-Soha bus service has been reintroduced after a gap of five years as the previous bus service had to be discontinued “due to unavailability of maintenance fund.”
He also said several ongoing projects, such as the PMGSY road from Namsang to Khela and the RCC bridge from Deomali to Wasathong, “are being carried out in full swing,” and asked the executing agencies to follow the guidelines and complete the projects within the stipulated time.
The minister also informed that he has taken up with the chief minister the matter of maintenance of NH 315A.
APSTS General Manager Abu Tayeng urged the people to “cooperate with the transport department in generating revenue through bus tickets, which will help to maintain the transport buses from time to time.”
He commended the department’s officials in the eastern region of the state “for achieving record revenues through the transport service.”
ADC Penga Tato, HoDs, interim panchayat members, GBs, chiefs, and people from Namsang, Soha and Deomali were also present at the function. (DIPRO)
