ITANAGAR, Jul 4: Governor BD Mishra and Chief Minister Pema Khandu have extended warm greetings to the people of Arunachal on the joyous occasion of Dree festival.
In his message, the governor said that “the Dree festival is one of the cultural identities of the Apatani tribe and at the same time reinforces the splendid cultural fabric of Arunachal Pradesh. It is an agrarian celebration and caries the highlights of the vibrant culture and traditions of the Apatani Tribe.”
The governor said, “the celebration of the festival has always helped the people to preserve the tribe’s rich heritage, carry it forward and pass it on to the younger generation.”
He appealed to the elders and youth to take pride in their ethnicity and customs and preserve it for the posterity.
“May this Dree festivity usher in good harvest and prosperity,” the governor wished.
Extending warm greetings to the people of the state, particularly the Apatani community on the joyous occasion, Chief Minister Pema Khandu, in his message conveyed his deep sense of appreciation to the community for safeguarding and promoting the rich Apatani culture and tradition and passing it to the younger generation.
He believed that the auspicious Dree would bring with it communal harmony, peace, serenity and prosperity in the state besides spreading brotherhood in the society.
“Ours is a distinct state with several tribes and communities residing side by side for ages and maintaining their own unique indigenous culture and traditions. Despite our varied diversity, we as Arunachalees are united and take pride in our indigenous cultural heritage. This cultural mosaic has to be maintained, preserved and propagated at all costs while keeping intact our unity in diversity,” the CM added in his message.
