AALO, Jul 31: The World Ranger Day was celebrated here in the Forest Range Office in West Siang district to mark the efforts of forest frontline staff who work day and night to protect the environment and wildlife.
World Ranger Day was first celebrated in 2007 by the International Ranger Foundation, which has 54 member countries but is rarely celebrated in India.
Attending the event, Deputy Commissioner West Siang Swetika Sachan, DFO Abhinav Kumar, SP Jummar Basar and ACF Martha Ratan, appreciated the efforts of the forest staff and also encouraged them to work hard.
They also promised to help the Forest department in whatever way they could.
Motivating the staffers, Aalo Forest Range in-charge Dhawan Kumar Rawat said, “the idea of World Ranger Day is to let people know about the unsung heroes who very rarely come in the limelight but work hard whether it is plantation work, poaching, illegal felling cases or animal rescue operations.” (DIPRO)
