NFR repairs railway line damaged by flashflood

DHEMAJI, Aug 1: Flashflood damaged a portion of the Rangiya-Murkongselek broad gauge railway line here in Assam on Wednesday morning, which disrupted rail communication along the route.
The overflowing water of the Jiyadhal river damaged the rail embankment and the approach bridge (No 693) in between Dhemaji and Bordoloni railway stations.
However, the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) authority engaged men and machines to repair the damaged portion on a war footing, and restored the train service by Wednesday evening.
“We have repaired the damaged portion of the railway track and restored the rail service along the route,” said NFR officials.
The NFR had to suspend plying of trains along the route on Wednesday. The operation of the Murkongselek-Rangiya passenger train, the Murkongselek-Dekargaon passenger train, the Kamakhya-Murkongselek intercity (Lachit Express) train, and the Naharlagun-Tinsukia express train, besides goods trains, were affected for the day.
