Mass cleanliness drive conducted along Yomgo riverside

AALO, Aug 7: Huge garbage accumulated along the 1km long stretch on bank of Yomgo River in the backside of Rime market and its vicinity were cleared and disposed of here on Wednesday during a mass cleanliness drive held here on Wednesday.
The drive themed ‘Sources Segregation under Swachh Bharat Mission’ was participated by dwellers of Rime market colony, urban development and housing department, representatives from Galo Ane, Mothers’ Vision etc.
Speaking to the gathering on the spot, UD & Housing deputy director Hali Welly appealed to the residents to segregate waste sources into wet and dry sources, recycle dry sources for rag pickers and further appealed all to avail Individual Household Latrines. He further informed that the district administration will also be forming flying squads for implementation of Solid Waste Management Rule, 2016. He also disclosed that fines will be imposed for littering from Rs. 500 to 1000 at auto stand, shops, households, stores and godowns and spot challan will be given to violators. (DIPRO)
