ITANAGAR, Aug 9: The environment & forests department organised an ‘inception workshop on stakeholders’ consultation of preparation of revised state action plan on climate change (SAPCC)’ at the Dorjee Khandu convention centre here from 8 to 9 August. Representatives of 19 line departments attended it.
The workshop was aimed at reviewing the climate risks in the state, reviewing the adequacy of the existing strategies, identifying financing mechanisms for the strategies, formulating a framework and implementation arrangement, undertaking actions to update the SAPCC, etc.
The state climate change cell (SCCC) organized the programme with technical support from New Delhi-based IORA Ecological Solutions. IORA was represented by its vice president Dr Sumana Bhattacharya and field coordinator Anurava Gupta.
The programme was attended by, among others, PCCF Pu Lalram Thanga, PCCF (Environment & Forests) RK Singh, and other senior officials of the department.
The participants were later divided sector-wise, such as water resources, forests and biodiversity, energy and urban development, and agriculture and allied sectors. The groups were asked to identify the risks, exposure, adaptive capacity and adaptation activities in their respective sectors.
Each of the groups made presentations, and the experts gave their feedbacks and inputs.
Environment Deputy Director D Dohu Robin coordinated the event with the SCCC team, in collaboration with IORA.
