Union seeks renaming of law college

ITANAGAR, Aug 12: Members of the Galo Students’ Union on Monday met Education Minister Taba Tedir and submitted a memorandum seeking early naming of the government law college in Jote after former chief minister, late Jarbom Gamlin.
The union said that in February 2015, the state government, under the leadership of the then CM Nabam Tuki, had announced the decision to name the law college after Gamlin in order to immortalize the contributions of the late CM.
“But unfortunately, no proper action has been initiated as on date by the subsequent governments in furtherance of the earlier government’s decision. Now that the law college is ready to commence regular courses from this session, the Galo community is legitimately expecting it to be named after late Jarbom Gamlin, as decided earlier,” the union stated in the memorandum.
