ROING, Aug 16: Entrepreneurs, progressive farmers and members of various self-help groups (SHG) attended a district level sensitization workshop on the Dairy Entrepreneurship Development Scheme (DEDS), the National Livestock Mission (NLM) and the entrepreneurship development and employment generation component, organized here in Lower Dibang Valley district by the NABARD on Friday.
The workshop, which was aimed at creating awareness about the DEDS and the NLM among the farming community, was also attended by officials from the animal husbandry & veterinary department, bankers from the SBI, the APRB and the Apex Bank, and officials of the Arunachal State Rural Livelihoods Mission (ArSRLM).
During the programme, NABARD District Development Manager Nitya Mili made a PowerPoint presentation on the salient features of the DEDS and the NLM being implemented through the NABARD. Urging the participants to avail the benefits of the dairy, poultry, piggery and goatery schemes, Mili highlighted the procedures involved in applying for the schemes.
Roing APRB Branch Manager PB Chetry informed about the formalities involved in availing credit under the schemes, while Veterinary Officer Dr S Migri spoke on the potential of livestock activities in the district, and informed about the different breeds and varieties of animals and poultry that are suitable for adoption in the area for commercial purposes.
ArSRLM COO R Srivastava said “members of SHGs have the credit absorption capacity if trained in a proper way,” and urged the participants to benefit from the schemes being implemented by the NABARD, in consultation with the line departments.
