Pongte urges teachers to be dedicated

CHANGLANG, Aug 20: Deputy Speaker Tesam Pongte asked the teachers in Changlang district to know their responsibilities and discharge their duties with utmost sincerity and dedication.
Pongte said this during an interactive meeting organised here by the Samagra Siksha Society on Tuesday.
Informing that he has received numerous complaints from villagers regarding irregular service by teachers of various schools, especially those in the interior villages, Pongte cautioned that “such intentional misdeeds, which affect the whole society, will not be tolerated.”
Expressing concern over the poor academic results of the district’s schools, he asked the teachers to make more effort to contribute to the success of students and improve the performance of their respective schools.
Pongte also asked teachers not to indulge in drugs and refrain from other intoxicating substances, saying strong action would be initiated if anyone was found indulging in such vices.
On the issue of shortage of teachers in the district, he requested the teachers to “work beyond their superannuation,” saying that “honorarium could be arranged for them for their services.”
The deputy speaker also asked the DDSE to let the BRC send CRCs to take classes during free time.
Changlang DC RK Sharma, who was also present at the meeting, asked the teachers to motivate the students to study hard. He described teachers as “makers of society,” and asked them to ensure that they are satisfied with their own efforts.
“The performance of a school is the actual achievement of the teachers,” he said.
Sharma also expressed concern over the poor academic performance of the government schools, and asked the teachers to “come up with concrete lesson plans to overcome the lacunae and increase academic excellence.”
The meeting was attended by all the teachers of Changlang block, besides BRCs, CRCs, and public leaders. (DIPRO)
