ROING, Aug 22: The education department recently conducted a series of ‘plantation drives-cum-interaction sessions’ as part of the Jal Shakti Abhiyan (JSA) at various schools here in Lower Dibang Valley district.
At the government secondary school in Jia, DC Mitali Namchoom conducted the interactive session with the students, and advised them to develop the reading habit to improve their language and reading skills and to gain knowledge outside of textbooks.
At the government residential school in Mayu, SP SK Sain participated in the plantation drive on Wednesday.
The JSA is focused on promoting rainwater harvesting structures, rejuvenation of water bodies, intensive afforestation, and reuse of waste water.
During the first phase of the JSA in the district, 440 trees were planted. The second phase is presently underway. (DIPRO)
