Addressing the inaugural session, Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU) Vice Chancellor Prof Saket Kushwaha called on the students, particularly the freshers, to “fulfill their parental expectations by making the best use of the facilities available in the college, and grow as successful individuals in the future.”
He also encouraged them to enter the RGU or any other university in the country after graduation “to see their long-cherished dreams come true,” and to contribute to nation-building.
JNC Principal Dr Milorai Modi advised the students to pursue their studies sincerely, and to “protect the properties of the college for use by successive generations.”
In Doimukh, the RGU’s geography department on Tuesday organised an ‘orientation-cum-induction programme’ for the students admitted in the 2019-20 academic session.
The students were imparted knowledge on topics such as the department’s profile, infrastructural facilities, choice-based credit system syllabus, sexual harassment, and anti-ragging.
Dr Tage Rupa Sora apprised the students of various aspects of sexual harassment, and urged them to register such cases with the university’s gender sensitization cell for sexual harassment.
Dr Gibji Nimasow advised the students to not discriminate on the basis of seniority, caste, creed, colour, religion, place of birth, etc, and urged them to fill up the anti-ragging forms and submit them to the UGC’s anti-ragging portal.
Geography HoD Prof Kiran Kumari, Environmental Sciences Dean Prof Tasi Kaye, Prof Tomo Riba, and other faculty members also shared their views.
