CHANGLANG, Sep 3: The Changlang district disaster management authority (DDMA) recently organised a series of awareness programmes on ‘disaster risk reduction’ for students and teachers at the Yankang GSS, the Rangfra Vidhya Niketan, the Longran upper primary school (UPS), the Rangrinkan UPS, the primary school in Longran, and the primary school in the Rangkatu tea estate.
The team from the DDMA screened clips of various disasters, including CCTV footages of earthquakes, in order to provide a clear understanding of various disasters. It also made presentations on the dos and don’ts before, during and after various disasters.
The team also guided the schools’ authorities in formulating school safety plans and safe evacuation plans, and in identifying a safe place in the schools’ premises.
Mock drills on safe evacuation were also carried out, involving the teachers and students, at each school. (DIPRO)
