ITANAGAR, 22 Sep: PWD Highway Chief Engineer Toli Basar informed that the construction of the four-lane highway from Chandannagar to Papu Nallah is in progress.
Talking to media persons, Basar said the progress of work is being monitored by the chief minister’s office. “We have been reviewing the work progress on a monthly basis,” he added.
“As per the EPC document/agreement the road completion year is 2020, but the built-up area may be completed by October, as per the concessionaire. An independent engineer is also monitoring the construction work. Issues regarding shifting of utilities are still pending, and the DC may take up it immediately,” the CE said, adding that “we have already issued instruction to fill up the potholes in order to lessen the problems of the road users.”
PWD Highway EE Nani Tath said he was “deeply concerned about the problems of road users.”
“The road work is progressing, and the construction agency has been given a milestone. If they fail in their duty, we may take action. We are also hopeful that the contractor will be able to give us the built-up area for the commuters as per its promise,” he said.
