ROING, Sep 23: Lower Dibang Valley (LDV) Deputy Commissioner Mitali Namchoom inaugurated Childline Roing, a 24-hour phone emergency outreach service for children in need of care and protection, at Mayu-I here on Monday.
Childline Roing, the second emergency outreach service in the state, is a project of the union women & child development ministry, linking the state government, NGOs, allied systems and the corporate sector. It is being implemented in LDV by NGO AMYAA.
In her inaugural address, the DC advised the members to “attend to all distress calls in a responsive and sensitive manner, and deal with such cases in a humane manner.”
AMYAA director RK Paul Chawang informed about the Childline’s service, and spoke about the awareness camps conducted by the NGO for business establishments, government departments, households, etc, regarding the Childline service.
Roing police station OC N Sora, the ICDS deputy director, and representatives of the BSNL, the labour & employment department and the AMYAA were among those present on the occasion. (DIPRO)
