KOLORIANG, Sep 30: The District Urban Development Agency (DUDA) of Kurung Kumey organized a ‘Swachhta Run’ under ‘Swachhta Hi Seva’ (SHS) to create awareness about the harmful effects of single-use plastic among the public here on 28 September.
Kurung Kumey SP Minjom Ete flagged of the event.
Later, Town Magistrate Dr Dana Unna, who also is the chairperson of the SHS vigilance committee, and EE Riya Powak informed the public that the district administration has banned single-use plastic in the entire district and that violators would be penalized.
Cotton bags were distributed among the general public, shopkeepers and government employees to discourage the use of single-use plastic carry bags. DIPRO
