DC advocates developing village tourism

CHANGLANG, Oct 5: Changlang Deputy Commissioner RK Sharma on Friday emphasized on developing village tourism in the district, and advocated creating awareness in this regard.
Addressing a meeting with members of the district unit of the Arunachal Tourism Society (ATS) here, Sharma called for conducting awareness programmes “to capacitate locals and to train them on hospitality, homestay and food preparation through self-contained huts operational throughout the year with the participation of self-help groups.”
The DC also emphasized on developing picnic spots and leasing them out to NGOs.
“There is a need to develop sustainable tourism, the benefits of which are not only environmental and social but also economic,” he said, and urged all stakeholders to actively participate in the process.
The meeting was convened to discuss the activities to be carried out by the ATS for promotion of all-round development of tourism activities in the district. (DIPRO)
