MLA puts emphasis on sports infrastructure

DARI, Oct 25: Basar MLA Gokar Basar has said that special emphasis would be given to make Lepa Rada district a sports hub.
Addressing the inaugural ceremony of the 32nd Ego Valley Open Tournament (EVOT) here on Friday, Basar stressed the need for developing sports infrastructure in the district for development of games and sports.
Citing the examples of commonwealth weightlifting champion Kojum Taba and world kickboxing champion Jummi Basar from the district, the MLA emphasized in individual sports.
On the occasion, the MLA also flagged off a hearse cum ambulance which he bought from his salary, for the people of the district.
While informing about the decision of adopting ‘one district, one product’ in the agriculture cum horticulture field, Gokar said that Lepa Rada district can adopt chilly production.
He also informed that the chief secretary has assured to provide cold storage at Dari, Basar and Tirbin. The marketing strategy will be planned by the authorities concerned, he added.
Responding to public memorandum, Basar said that the demand for a police outpost in Dari has already been informed to the Home Minister and chief secretary while the DDSE has been already directed to provide subjects teachers for PCM and PCB under CMSSY scheme.
He also said that road connectivity to the interior areas of the district is also under his agenda and requested everyone to not create any hindrance in achieving it.
Meanwhile, in the inaugural football match, Tirbin United defeated Rote Football Club 3-0 goal in penalty shootout.
